Construction of 6 new commercial units providing 38,000 square feet of retail space behind a new Lidl supermarket on Coldharbour Road, Gravesend. ODM was contracted to perform a full mechanical fit out of the newly built commercial property, which now houses large warehouse outlets such as Screwfix, Tootstation, Easy Bathrooms and Howdens.
As the mechanical contractor on the project, we were tasked with outfitting each retail unit with water supply, heating and staff facilities, plus ventilation works and a leak detection system.
Accessible toilet and shower facilities were included in each unit, with hot water and heating supplied via a Worcester Greenstar combi 4000 30kw boiler. These can run on a 20% hydrogen blend, future proofing the units and ensuring they received an energy rating of A.
Each self-contained unit measures between 4,950 and 6,734 square feet. Extraction was added to the shower rooms for air circulation and radiators within the hallway and bathrooms for heating.
A sensor-based water leak detection system was added to each unit to protect from water leaks. These systems detect water where there should be none and alert the owner, giving them an early warning of potential flooding and shutting the water supply off as necessary. This in turn provides a chance to save their stock and property from water damage.
