Project: Kitchen-diner extension

Location: Meopham, Kent

The Project
Complete the plumbing and heating, including a new underfloor heating installation for a new kitchen/diner extension.

Our Involvement

We carried out the full installation of an underfloor heating system.  It was laid on top of the existing floor within the house and extended across the new floor throughout the newly extended kitchen, diner, utility and toilet room.  In addition to the underfloor heating, we also installed a new 40kw boiler to cope with these new heating and hot water requirements.

Hot and cold supplies were also added to run to the new kitchen sink, utility room and downstairs toilet, which we also installed.

Challenges

A large work island within the new kitchen required us to bypass certain areas within the underfloor installation and careful marking up of the floor area prior to installation.  In order to deliver an even heat across the floor, avoiding cold spots as well as overheated areas, the system must be carefully placed.  As you can see from the photos, the kitchen island provided us with a challenging layout design!  Despite this, the system was installed perfectly.  We were extremely happy with the results.

Key Achievements
Installation of a fully working underfloor heating system.   It includes zonal controls which cover the whole property.  This resulted in better control of the existing system and flawless integration of the new heating system within it.
